Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Released from Hospital in Lagos Following Tragic Car Crash

Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital, officials in Lagos announced on Wednesday evening. The fighter was part of a serious road collision in the Lagos area on the 29th of December, a devastating event that resulted in the deaths of two of his valued colleagues.

Under Observation for Minor Injuries

Joshua had remained in the hospital while recuperating from non-critical injuries, his promoter stated earlier on Monday. The Lagos state commissioner for information, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement on social media that Joshua was judged healthy enough to leave and heal privately.

“The boxer and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two deceased friends as they were being prepared for repatriation,” the commissioner stated.

Honoring the Deceased

Those who lost their lives were named as Latif Ayodele, a fitness coach, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. Omotoso added that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and overcome with emotion over the tragic loss of his two close friends.”

His release from the hospital arrives after the sports world offered condolences for the fighter in the following the heartbreaking incident.
